Beads of Courage

We continually hear God speak to us in the rainbows, the deer, the flowers and His word.  Look around you! He even speaks to us in the wind, the storms, and the turbulence.  Do you feel Him holding you? He whispers to us during sickness, loss, pain and depression.  He provides comfort.

We must continually speak to our soul instead of our soul speaking to us.  For it is our soul that needs the encouragement (from our spirit) to endure, to give us reminders of God’s power and to give us comfort.

Welcome challenging times as opportunities to trust Me. You have Me beside you and My Spirit within you, so no set of circumstances is too much for you to handle. When the path before you is dotted with difficulties, beware of measuring your strength against those challenges. That calculation is certain to riddle you with anxiety. Without Me, you wouldn't make it past the first hurdle! The way to walk through demanding days is to grip My hand tightly and stay in close communication with Me. Let your thoughts and spoken words be richly flavored with trust and thankfulness. Regardless of the day's problems, I can keep you in perfect Peace as you stay close to Me.

Prayer, America's Hope
No ocean can hold it back.
No river can overtake it.
No whirlwind can go faster.
No army can defeat it.
No law can stop it.
No distance can slow it.
No disease can cripple it.
No force on earth is more powerful or effective
than the power of prayer.
May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you. Psalm 33:22

Daily Devotion
Rest in Me, My child. Give your mind a break from planning and trying to anticipate what will happen. Pray continually, asking My Spirit to take charge of the details of this day. Remember that you are on a journey with Me. When you try to peer into the future and plan for every possibility, you ignore your constant Companion who sustains you moment by moment. As you gaze anxiously into the distance, you don't even feel the strong grip of My hand holding yours. How foolish you are, My child!
Remembrance of Me is a daily discipline. Never lose sight of My Presence with you. This will keep you resting in Me all day, every day.
1 Thessalonians 5:17; Psalm 62:5

With God, there are no endings
Only endless beginnings

A friend listens with her eyes and her heart...
and understands what you can't put into words.

I am still determined to be cheerful and happy,
 in whatever situation I may be;
for I have also learned from experience that
the greater part of our happiness or misery
depends upon our dispositions,
and not upon our circumstances.
Martha Washington

We are spiritual beings
 having this human experience

Friends are angels who lend us their wings
when our wings have forgotten how to fly.

Friends warm you with their presence,
trust you with their secrets,
and remember you in their prayers

We human beings can survive the
most difficult of circumstances
if we are not forced to
stand against them alone.

His Name is Jesus by Max Lucado
HIS DEATH
Jesus...
The palm that held the universe took the nail of a soldier.
On the eve of the cross, Jesus made His decision.
He would rather go to hell for you
than go to heaven without you.
HIS RESURRECTION
Jesus...
The moment He removed the stone, He removed all reason for doubt. Christ's resurrection is an exploding flare announcing to all sincere seekers that it is safe to believe.
--Max Lucado
We have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. I John 2:1

A man was sleeping one night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light, and God appeared.  The Lord told the man he had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin.

The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock with all his might...

So, this the man did, day after day. For many years he toiled from sunup to sundown, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might!

Each night the man returned to his cabin sore and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain.

Since the man was showing discouragement, the Adversary (Satan) decided to enter the picture by placing thoughts into the man's weary mind. (He will do it every time!)

"You have been pushing against that rock for a long time and it hasn't moved." Thus, he gave the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was a failure.

These thoughts discouraged and disheartened the man.

Satan said, "Why kill yourself over this? Just put in your time, giving just the minimum effort, and that will be good enough."

That's what the weary man planned to do, but decided to make it a matter of prayer and to take his troubled thoughts to the  Lord.

"Lord," he said, "I have labored long and hard in Your Service, putting all my strength to do that which you have asked.

Yet, after all this time, I have not even budged that rock by half a millimeter. What is wrong? Why am I failing?"

The Lord responded compassionately, "My friend, when I asked you to serve Me and you accepted, I told you that your task was to push against the rock with all of your strength, which you have done.

Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. Your task was to push.

And now you come to Me with your strength spent, thinking  that you have failed. But, is that really so? Look at yourself.

Your arms are strong and muscled, your back shiny and brown; your hands are callused from constant pressure, your legs have become massive and hard. Through opposition you have grown much, and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have. True, you haven't moved the rock.

But your calling was to be obedient and to push and to exercise your faith and trust in My wisdom.

That you have done. Now I, my friend, will move the rock.."

At times, when we hear a word from God, we tend to use our own intellect to decipher what He wants, when actually what God wants is just simple obedience and faith in Him.

By all  means, exercise the faith that moves mountains, but know that it is still God Who moves the mountains.

Just Enough Light
Sometimes only the step I’m on,
or the very next one ahead,
is all that is illuminated for me.
God gives just the amount of light I need
for the exact moment I need it.
At those times I walk in surrender to faith,
 unable to see the future
and not fully comprehending the past.
And because it is God who has given me
 what light I have,
I know I must reject the fear and
doubt that threaten to overtake me.
I must determine to be content where
I am, and allow God to get me where I
 need to go.
I walk forward,
one step at a time,
 fully trusting that
 the light God sheds
 is absolutely sufficient.
